Gegenstand dieser Tagung ist die aktuelle Aufarbeitung, von Fragen der künftigen Konservierung und Vermittlung der künstlerischen Ideen dieser Epoche. Es wird eine interdisziplinäre Diskussion initiiert, auf der sowohl die fundamentale Erweiterung der künstlerischen Medien in den 1960er Jahren, als auch die komplexe Genealogie behandelt wird, die nunmehr zwischen Künstlern der 1960er Jahre und heutigen künstlerischen Positionen besteht. Only recently, however, have I felt that the quality of my designs justified becoming a member; and I have been deeply gratified by my subsequent welcome. I have recently completed a manuscript on kinetic sculpture, "Aesthetic Wilderness: A Brief Personal History of the Meeting between Art and the Machine, 1844-2005", and am seeking a German translator and publisher. This is a serious, scholarly work which, I believe, has the potential of revolutionizing our understanding of the history -- and future -- of the art; and I will be happy to forward a review copy to any Kineticus member who expresses serious interest.
