As materialism and greed escalades into the menace that is climate change, global leaders and researchers are desperately and relentlessly trying to come up with solutions through countless summit meetings and research projects. This symposium will place its emphasis on such topic. Invited are renowned artists Frank Bernward from Germany, Karou Matsumoto from Japan, and Liang-Ren-Hong from Taiwan. These three artists are known for their interactive wind sculptures and installation works. Their works will function as a medium for us to critically analyze the relationship between art and the role it plays in the environment. The artists will each be given a chance to speak about their works, and their concern regarding the ever changing environmental variables, as well as the future in the development of such artistic approach. Staffs and students attending the symposium should take away with them a new understanding and appreciation in the field of environmental art and the philosophy behind such movement. The dialogue between wind, space, the artists and their works shall result in a brand new capacity of understanding, which will be the focus of discussion in this symposium.
Bernward Frank could not come because of the volcanic eruption in Island. He was alternative presented by a video.
